K-Electric Announces Winter Maintenance Schedule for Karachi Power Grid

Karachi, December 18, 2024 - K-Electric, Karachi's primary power supplier, has announced a series of transmission network maintenance schedules for this winter, aimed at ensuring the efficiency of high-voltage electrical equipment.

The initial phase of the maintenance will affect the North Karachi Grid, where customers can expect a temporary power shutdown on December 21. Customers in the KEPZ Grid will face similar disruptions on December 29. The power supply to these areas will be restored using alternative means, but residents are advised to be prepared for possible temporary power outages.

Karachi will also face power outages on December 17, 2024, due to maintenance work on transformers. The maintenance work will take place between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM and is expected to affect different locations of the city, causing temporary power outages. Residents are advised to plan accordingly, as the outages could disrupt daily activities.

Furthermore, K-Electric has announced that 64 out of its 2,001 feeders will be shut down on December 19, 2024, for maintenance work on transformers in various areas of Karachi. The affected areas include North Karachi, Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Jamshed Town, Korangi, and Surjani Town. The list of affected feeders and the duration of the power shutdown have been provided, with some areas expected to experience up to 10 hours of load shedding and others up to 7 hours.

K-Electric's social media, call center, and self-service portal will be available 24/7 for customer assistance. The company aims to improve the reliability and efficiency of the electricity network through this maintenance work, and residents are advised to plan accordingly to minimize disruptions during this period.
