Karachi Bans Aerial Firing on New Year's Eve to Ensure Public Safety
As part of efforts to minimize risks and casualties on New Year's Eve, the Karachi administration has imposed a blanket ban on aerial firing within the city limits from December 31 to January 1. The decision has been taken in accordance with Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, effective for a 48-hour period starting from 6 pm on December 31. This year's ban aims to prevent the unfortunate incidents of injuries and fatalities that occurred last year, where 29 people were injured during the celebrations, some with lifelong disabilities.
Authorities are taking strict action against individuals violating the ban. Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi announced that the Sindh government will take stern measures against those found breaching the order, noting that the decision was necessary to maintain public peace and safety. Last year, despite the ban, 38 individuals were arrested for indulging in aerial firing and carrying weapons during the celebrations. The authorities request the public to exercise restraint and adhere to the ban for a safe and joyous celebration of the New Year.
In a contrasting and unusually conciliatory approach towards New Year's Eve celebrations, the Sindh Governor, Kamran Tessori, has announced a grand fireworks display at the Governor's House, organized in collaboration with key institutions and authorities. The event, set to break a global record, will feature a 40-minute fireworks display at five venues within the Governor's House with public access to all gates. Governor Tessori expressed a vision for the upcoming year, seeking peace, security, stability, economic growth, and the well-being of the people of Pakistan.

According to government plans, citizens will rejoice in the beauty of fireworks registered to distinctly represent harmony in our parishes of the city bringing anew richness added tone to celebrate this festival that brings light with energetic inflows that power our people rejoice.
